Alberta Main Street approach
Alberta Main Street is part of the National Main Street Network and is one of approximately 1,200 local revitalization nonprofit organizations across the U.S.
About the National Main Street Program
The Main Street Program is a national program that works to revitalize historic downtowns. The National Trust for Historic Preservation created the Main Street Program in 1977 in reaction to economic decline and threats to traditional architecture in core commercial districts.
Alberta Main Street is volunteer driven. We are led by a fabulous Board of Director and our creative work teams: Promotions, Business Development/Organization, and Design.
Promotions – This team organizes great neighborhood events, supports ongoing social media promotions, tells the world about the great people, businesses, events and talent found Only on Alberta.
Business Development/Organization – We connect businesses on Alberta and home-based businesses throughout N/NE Portland to small business resources, business planning and other forms of assistance. This team sponsors regular business wokshops and business mentor connections.
Design – The Design Team works to make visual improvements in the neighborhood business district through good design compatible with historic features.
Communities that have developed this approach in their own business districts on average have had a reinvestment rate of $40.35 for every one-dollar spent. For more information you can visit the website of the National Main Street Program.
Alberta Main Street is a nonprofit community organization focused on advancing the vibrant neighborhood we’ve all cultivated over the years.
