Shining the Spotlight on Local Artists
We will dedicate prime property on our website to feature a local artist willing to share their work with our community. We will give first priority to artists living or working on or near Alberta Street.
FEATURED ARTIST: Deb Minkler
Artist Statement:
I’ve truly been involved with visual arts my entire life. From drawing on my bedroom walls as a toddler, studying it throughout school, and later teaching it to both children and adults, I now create art on a regular basis as both a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, and as a fine artist. I just love to draw and paint—it makes me really happy.
I particularly enjoy working with watercolor because of the variety of styles one can achieve with it, its portability, and its ease of clean up. My subject matter varies from landscapes to still life to things totally made up out of my imagination. The variety is good for me.
The consistent elements among my paintings despite the subject matter might be the exaggeration of light, a twist on composition, lots of color, and a sense of humor shown in some cases. I hope viewers find my work pleasurable as a result.
